Fear and anxiety, while a normal response to threats, can become maladaptive and change how the brain reacts to threats.  Antidepressant medications have limited response rates and often have severe adverse side effects.

CBD has been shown to decrease anxiety in patients with generalized social anxiety disorder.   In both the laboratory and in human experiments, CBD modifies the physiologic changes in the brain associated with fear and anxiety, suggesting great promise for CBD as a treatment for anxiety and fear.

At this time, the FDA does not recommend CBD for the treatment of anxiety and/or fear.
